Disney builds virtual bridge for interactive games

SAN DIEGO (Hollywood Reporter) - Disney is bridging the gap between gaming and virtual worlds.
Disney Interactive Studios on Thursday formally launched DGamer, a free avatar-based community for U.S. buyers of games the company developed for the handheld Nintendo DS.

Disney set to launch mobile ‘tween’ social network

TORONTO — Walt Disney Co. wants to take “tween” social networking mobile.
When Disney launches its new Prince Caspian video game for the Nintendo DS today, it will also unveil DGamer, a kid-friendly mobile social network that will allow users to create avatars, chat and share high scores with friends over a WiFi connection. Read the rest of this entry »

Miley Cyrus accused of stealing LA band’s song

Miley Cyrus has been rocked by another scandal just two weeks after the furore surrounding her provocative Vanity Fair photographs - now she’s accused of ripping off someone else’s song.
Los Angeles band Lustra claim Cyrus’ Rockstar hit is a carbon copy of their ‘Scotty Doesn’t Know’ tune, which appeared on the soundtrack to 2004 movie ‘Eurotrip’.
And they are inviting Cyrus fans who love her song to check out “the original” on their MySpace.com web page.
Lustra were alerted to the similarities between the songs by fans and they listened to both tracks and the bandmates claim the tunes are virtually the same - with separate lyrics.
